We Give You the Control:

For most of our web sites we use a CMS - Content Management System. 

A CMS is a tool that helps you manage the content of your site - updating and creating articles, adding photos or music and videos and more.  Being that we are also independent business owners our first focus is the support and growth of local businesses and small & independent businesses.

To prove this, here is a list of CMS platforms we use that are 'open source' - supported by the public.  You can make a web site yourself by visiting these links, joining their forums and learning through the overwhelming amount of support that is out there for these CMS platforms.  If you choose to learn a CMS yourself, but would like to use THE ZAP TEAM for support and help, visit the WEB SUPPORT section for more information. 

• Joomla! - http://www.joomla.org/ 
  • This is our first choice for building your web site.  Flexible, robust and user friendly.
• Drupal  - http://www.drupal.org/  
  • This is Joomla!'s rival and the only other publicly supported system that we recommend.
• osCommerce - http://www.oscommerce.org/ 
  • An open source program solely designed for eCommerce - selling products and services online.

 

Why do we do it this way?

COST is the number one reason.  To have us build a web site from scratch or even use a CMS that is commercially available can be extrememly expensive and often lacks the quality of support compared to 1000s of users working on making something like Joomla! better and more functional, every day!

Secondly is that we really want to give business owners the power of being in control of their online presence.  We are currently working on a tutorial and information resource center for all our clients to help them learn how to update and expand their web sites in a format that allows everyone to work at their own pace.

 

What will my web site look like:

Using a Template - The cheapest way to give your web site a fresh and attractive look is to use one of the many templates that have been built by the 100s of people using these very same platforms.  We will direct you to a couple of web sites that will give you more than enough to choose from.  Your company logo and chosen colours will be used to customize the template and we'll get our graphics guy to make sure it has a smooth look that reflects your business properly.  Using a template does have its limits though.

A Custom Look - We are open to you designing a look for your web site and can meet with you to do this in order to show you some of the restriction envolved.  You may also want to show us a web site of which you would like to have a similar style.  We can draft up a design for you if you want an original look of your own, using your colour preference, logo and ideas.  Incorporating a custom layout with our Flash & Video for Web services can give you a fantastic looking web site that is completely original.

A custom layout can cost anywhere from $250 and up.  Cost is normally based on the time it takes to design and develop the layout and graphics.

 

Financing options:

Being small business owners ourselves we are doing everything we can to make our services the most cost effective option when creating an online presence.  Whether you choose a basic setup from our WEB PACKAGES section, or want to go all out and really impress your customers or clients, we will work with you in creating a payment plan that is fair, works for you and is stress free.

We aslo want you to GROW!  If you're going to base your decision on how much money you have NOW, then you're only selling yourself short.  We can show you many options for your business that will have great benefits and we can also develop a plan and time line for implementing these options.

Our ability to build and maintain web sites is not our only experience or asset.  We not only own businesses but some of us also work for companies and businesses with a range of experience from factory management and systems, retailers, wholesalers, international sales, contracting and more.  This experience is an asset for us to understand your business and implement it into the internet.

You can expect to pay a deposit once you've decided on a plan or package. For web sites under $1000 it is normally half of the total cost.  Web sites that are more than $1000 have a deposit based more on the time frame for building the site rather than on the total cost.  Please contact us with any questions.
